Hewenden Reservoir

Wednesday 9th July a.m.

After early mist there was still alot of cloud as I set off on my walk to Hewenden  Reservoir with a temperature of 15°C.  There are still a couple of Swifts flying around the Viaduct, Canadas & LBB Gulls were on the grass at the side of the res.  A fairly quiet walk with a Kestrel & Grey Heron seen, there was a mixed flock of Sand Martins, Swallows & House Martins, some stopping for a rest on the wires, as the drizzle began to fall I headed home.

Cullingworth

 Tuesday 8th July a.m.

A sunny morning with a start temperature of 13°C as I walked through the village seeing Collard Dove & Swifts.  A walk along the edge of the village below Harden Moor where a Song Thrush was singing, plenty birds around often darting in to the cover of the bracken.  Those seen were Willow Warbler, Whitethroat, Linnet, Robin, Blue Tit and high above a Peregrine.  The highlight though was a family of Stonechats giving great close up views.

Hewenden Reservoir

 Friday 4th July a.m.

A cloudy morning with a temperature of 14°C as I was going across Hewenden Viaduct a couple of Swifts were overhead with House Martins & Swallows nearby. A Chiffchaff was singing, there were c50 Canadas at the side of the res, on the water were LBB & BH Gulls plus two Mute Swans.  It was quiet walking through the wood but as I came back round to view the top side of the res a tall white bird was lurking behind the trees.  It soon came in to view and was my first Little Egret at this site and soon after I saw a second bird. Overhead there were two Buzzards, others were Oystercatcher & Grey Heron.
