Hewenden Reservoir

 Saturday 14th February a.m.

At last some sunshine although cold at -1°C with a keen frost and some ice where there was standing water.  A walk to Hewenden Reservoir where it was good to see eight Oystercatchers,  there were c50 Canadas on the water with a pair of Goldeneye, Mute Swan and several Teal.  A Kestrel swooped down from the top of a pole to catch it's breakfast, it then returned to the pole where I was able to get a picture.  A good selection of birds were seen others included Kingfisher, Buzzard, Mistle Thrush, Pheasant, Robin, Chaffinch, Goldfinch, Wren & Blackbird.
