Harden Moor

 Sunday 16th April a.m.

A cloudy morning with a temperature of 9°C for my first visit this year to Harden Moor where Curlew were moving around and a Skylark sang high in the sky.  Good to see a Barn Owl, Chiffchaffs and Willow Warblers were up singing, others were Song Thrush and Reed Bunting.

Dowley Gap

 Sunday 2nd April a. m.

A dull cloudy start to the morning with a temperature of 6°C as I walked alongside the canal at Dowley Gap.  There were 10 Greylags at the side of the canal, as I walked across the viaduct a Chiffchaff was singing which I spotted a while later.  In to Hirst wood there were 4 Jays seen, a GSW was drumming and there were a few Nuthatches and was able to ID a Swallow with several other hirundines flying above the wood. On thr River Aire there was a Mandarin, others seen were Gt Tit, Wren, LT Tit & Robin.

Leeshaw Reservoir

 Monday 27th March p.m.

A sunny afternoon with a temperature of 8°C at Leeshaw where there were c30 Oystercatchers and 4 Redshanks.  Others were Lapwing, Canadas, Greylags, Cormorant, Curlew, Grey Wagtail and Pied Wagtail.

Redcar Tarn

Sunday 19th March a.m.

A sunny morning with a temperature of  8°C at a Redcar Tarn where there was a mix of B.H. , Common, LLB and Herring Gulls.  There were two Oystercatchers and two Pied Wagtails, others were Canadas, Greylags, Robin and Tufteds.

Yeadon Tarn

Saturday 4th March a.m.

A cloudy morning feeling chilly with a temperature of 2°C as I walked round Yeadon Tarn. I counted 20 Mute Swans and 7 Cormorants, also it was good to see two male Pochards.  Others seen were Tufteds, Kestrel, BH Gull, Moorhen & Coot.

Leeshaw Reservoir

Sunday 26th February p.m.

Some sunny spells with a temperature of 6°C at Leeshaw where I counted 19 Oystercatchers on the other side of the reservoir.  A flock of c35 Curlews flew across the reservoir looking good in the sunshine with another one on the banking.  A mixed flock of c75 Canadas & c25 Greylags flew in causing a flock of c100 Lapwings to rise from the hidden banking.  Others were Cormorant, BH Gull, Mallards, Kestrel, Pheasant & Starling.
