A late morning visit to Dowley gap near Bingley for a walk along the canal and
into Hirst Wood alongside the River Aire, the sun was shining with a temperature
of 8°C. There was a Greylag on the canal with good numbers of Mallards, in the
sewage works there were BH Gulls and Pied Wagtails. We went into the wood
seeing three Goosanders with Mallards bathing in the sun on an island in the middle
of the river, there was also a Jay making a racket behind us.We headed back getting
a good view of a Kingfisher flying along a side stream, reaching the Aqueduct we saw
more Jays and a couple of Grey Heron and a GSW fly over and there was a Robin
singing in a nearby tree.
