Denso Marston NR & Yeadon Tarn

Sunday January 6th a.m.
 After yesterdays excitement with the Barnacle Geese it was back to some more
routine birding this morning in cloudy conditions and a temperature of 7°C.Our first
port of call was the Denso Marston NR in Shipley which runs along side the River
Aire,access here improved by a new tarmac path leading down to the river and the
bridge that crosses it.A good start with a pair of Goosanders we later saw an additional
two females,we spotted a Song Thrush singing away,a Cormorant flew over and there
was a Grey Heron with the four Goosanders which had moved downstream.Along with
other common species this was a good start to the morning.
 We then traveled to Yeadon Tarn where there was a good selection of birds with the
Drake Mandarin & Goldeneye still being present. There were two Cormorants on the
island and good numbers of other birds which are listed below.
