Tuesday 6th April a.m.
A bright sunny morning but a cold start with a temperature of -2°C as I walked through the woods at St Ives and around the Coppice Pond. There was plenty activity with a count of five returning Chiffchaffs in full voice as was a couple of Song Thrushes and a GSW or two were drumming. On the Coppice Pond there were three Goosanders, four Mute Swans plus Tufteds, Canadas, Greylags, LBB Gulls, Coots, Moorhen and a Grey Heron flew over. A Sparrowhawk was on patrol over the tree tops and Jays were also prowling, a great morning.
