Keighley Nature Reserve

Saturday 16th June a.m.
Another poor day with cloud and rain and just 11°C in June! with this forecast we decided
to go to Keighley Nature Reseve which is a BOG members site. Here at least we could sit in
the hide and keep dry whilst we watched the birds. We saw two Kingfishers which were very
active fishing from perches all around the large pond. It was great watching them and we also
managed to get a few decent snaps as well. There were plenty other birds too, including Grey
Heron,Greenfinch,Bullfinch,Blue Tit,Great Tit a young Robin.A Song Thrush made a brief
appearance and there were Mallards,Coots and Moorhen on the water.A Grey Squirrel had also
managed to get into the cage surrounding the feeders and was helping itself to the bird food.
Elsewhere other points of note was a Jay in Cullingworth village this morning spotted whilst
walking the dog in the rain so no snap.
Also whilst walking down my Grandmas street in Queensbury there was a Grey Wagtail in the
middle looking for food in the puddles, there may have been a second on an overhead wire at the
bottom of the street but couldn't confirm before they had both flown off.
