Harold Park, Bradford

Monday May 7th a.m.
After our visit to Peel Park we moved across the other side of the city to Harold Park where it
was still sunny with a temperature of 6°C. There was a better selection of birds here, the Black Swan
was still present with a Mute Swan, others on the water were Canadas,Coots,Mallard,Moorhen and
the pair of Great Crested Grebe down to two chicks. They seemed to look after one each and we had
some good close up views of them and got some snaps. The Coots have been successful breeding, we
saw four pairs with about three chicks each. Other birds we saw were Chaffinch and Collard Dove with
other common species but another highlight was the sight of two Swift high up overhead. This rounded
off a good mornings birding with just a few pictures of the Grebes and their chicks to sort out when we
got home.
