Ogden Reservoir

Saturday May 5th a.m.
A cold frosty morning with a temperature of 0°C, cloudy skies with the sun breaking through from
time to time. Very quiet on the water with just one Canada, the male Goldeneye still present, c 35
Mallards around the banks and two Grey Heron at the waters edge. We saw Great Tits busy nest
building, a Robin,Willow Warbler and my first Sparrowhawk of the year flew over our heads. I think
the highlight for me though was the return of the distant calling of a Cuckoo which was calling from the
plantation area above us.
