Redcar Tarn

Saturday May 12th a.m.
A visit up to Redcar Tarn this morning with clear blue skies and a temperature of 6°C  where
we saw the usual birds on the water. In addition there were two Greylags and a Mute Swan, when
we arrived there was just one LBB Gull. Later 20 Bh Gulls appeared but quickly moved on and a
Common Gull also made an appearance. There was a Sand Martin feeding over the water with
several Swallows and we counted 10 Swift feeding higher in the sky. An Oystercatcher flew across the
Tarn and on the island we saw a pair of Moorhen with four chicks with both parents squabbling with
a Coot which was getting too close to the chicks. In the trees which are now in full leaf there were a
couple of Chaffinch and for the first time here we spotted a Reed Bunting.
