Martin Mere Whoopers

Sunday 10th November
A cold frosty start to the day down at -2°C as we made our way to Martin Mere near the West
coast of Lancashire. This is a nature Reserve run by the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust & during the
Winter months is home to hundreds of Whooper Swans & thousands of Pink Footed Geese along
with many other Ducks & Geese.Other birds such as Ruff can be seen along with raptors looking
for an easy meal.
There is also an area for Wildfowl from around the world & some Asian Short-clawed Otters are
great to see.
We had a good day visiting the Wetland Centre with some warm Autumn sunshine, here are some
of the Whooper Swan pictures we took.Needless to say the photo opportunities were endless &
we will share them with you as we slowly wade through them.

  1. It's been donkeys years since I visited MM and I agree it's a great place. You got some cool pics there.

  2. Thanks Nigel, a few Whoopers having a pit stop on the local reservoirs would be good now.
