Harden Moor

Saturday 3rd May a.m.
A cold frosty start to the morning but the sun was out & the temperature rose through the
morning although just 1°C on our arrival at Harden Moor. The first birds seen were a charm
of Goldfinch with ten birds. The Sand Martins are now well established flying round the area
c25 birds we thought about trying to get a flight shot but the speed they were flying soon put
us off that idea. The dawn chorus was in full flow with Song Thrush,Blackbird,Chaffinch,Dunnock,
Redpoll,Robin,Wren & Willow Warbler all joining in.A Little Owl was in a tree in front off us which
moved to perch on a distant rock as we approached. After a walk round the maze of paths among
the trees & brambles we were also pleased to see a Kestrel again in a distant tree.
