A Bleak Redcar Tarn

Friday 10th February p.m.
A quick visit to Redcar Tarn high above Keighley where it was bitterly cold with a temperature
of -1.5°C. About 70% of the Tarn was covered in ice with most of the birds near the open
water, the Gulls were spread out across the ice.In the next field there were Carrion Crow,
Magpies and a few Blackbirds with two Robins in the ice covered trees. We had to be
careful walking round the Tarn as it was very slippy with ice on the path, we saw a group of
Chaffinch in the trees trying to find some food. The Muscovy Ducks were still present, they
were probably feeling right at home in the sub zero temperatures.
