Leeshaw Reservoir

Sunday 26th February p.m.

Some sunny spells with a temperature of 6°C at Leeshaw where I counted 19 Oystercatchers on the other side of the reservoir.  A flock of c35 Curlews flew across the reservoir looking good in the sunshine with another one on the banking.  A mixed flock of c75 Canadas & c25 Greylags flew in causing a flock of c100 Lapwings to rise from the hidden banking.  Others were Cormorant, BH Gull, Mallards, Kestrel, Pheasant & Starling.

Lister Park

A sunny morning with a temperature of 5°C as I walked towards the Lake at Lister Park, a Song Thrush high in a tree was vocal as I did so.  The Lake had fifteen Herring Gulls and c40 BH Gulls, c50 Canadas, 25 Tufteds and three Goosanders.  Others around the Park were Robin, LT Tit and Wren not too many, the reason might have been the Sparrowhawk surveying from high in a tree.

Rodley Nature Reserve

Sunday 5th February a.m.

I was pleased to be able to  return to Rodley Nature Reserve after the refurbishment to the bridge across the canal has been completed.  Here the sun was out with a temperature of 2°C as I watched a Goldcrest in a nearby tree.  On the main Lake there were Cormorant, Gadwall, Goosander, Little Grebe, Teal, Tufted and a couple of Oystercatchers on the island.  Walking round I saw a mixed flock of Chaffinch and Linnets as I made my way to the feeding area.  Here I saw Bullfinch, Pheasant and Reed Bunting, Canadas and Greylags were in a nearby field.
