St Ives

 Saturday 21st January a.m.

A cold frosty morning with a temperature of -2°C, as the sun came up I decided to go to St Ives a couple of miles down the road.  As I got nearer in the car fog had begun to roll in  but I carried on but viewing was somewhat  different to what I had hoped for. Anyway as I arrived at the Coppice Pond there were Mallards, BH Gulls, Coots, Moorhen and a Grey Heron on the water and frozen areas.  I went to the hide which produced G.S.W., Robin, Nuthatch, Blue Tit, Coal Tit, Blackbird, LT Tit, Gt Tit and Dunnock.

Redcar Tarn

 Sunday 15th January a.m.

A sunny morning up at the Tarn with plenty of birds to see mainly made up of BH Gulls, Canadas, Tufteds, Mallards and Coots.  In the field at the back of the Tarn there were fifteen Common Gulls with the BH Gulls and also another Gull which I initially though was a Lesser Black-backed Gull.  This had yellow legs but it's back was paler than usual and it had a clear white head so I think it was a Yellow-legged Gull.  Others seen were Pied Wagtail, Jackdaw, Rook and c75 Greylags arrived.

Lister Park

 Sunday 8th January a.m.

An early visit to Lister Park to make the most of some early sunshine with a temperature of 4°C.  A good number of sixteen Goosanders were on the Lake with the usual Canadas, Grelags, Moorhens, Coots and Mallards.  Surprisingly there were no Tufteds, usual to see well over twenty at this time of year.  Others seen were Nuthatch, Redwing and Robin.
