Cullingworth

Monday 29th July a.m.

A hot sunny morning starting at 14°C as I made a return visit to the NW side of Cullingworth, walking the village a dozen Swifts overhead got me off to a good start.  A Kestrel was seen at various locations on route, a Fox was seen skulking around and a couple of Deer made brief appearances.  The Little Owl & Green Woodpecker were present again, with Swallows, Swifts and a Sand Martin flying overhead.  The family of Juvenile Stonechats were the highlight as they moved around.

Swillington Ings

Sunday 28th July a.m.

A sunny morning at Swillington with a start temperature of 13°C which quickly rose during the morning.  Always a good number of birds here Warblers were flying around and darting in to  the high vegetation very quickly.  There were several Swifts flying overhead and Common Terns were flying arounding looking for fish.  Good to see Black-necked Grebe, Great Crested Grebe and Little Grebe all with chicks.  Some of the other birds seen were Snipe, Goldfinch, Linnet, Pochard, Gadwall, Little Egret, Shoveler, Lapwing and Reed Bunting.

Cullingworth

 Tuesday 23rd July a.m.

A sunny morning with a temperature of 14°C, so a walk was in order and off I set to the North West fringe of Cullingworth below Harden Moor.  The route I have not walked for a long time but it proved to be a good decision with a Redstart spotted.  This was soon followed by a Little Owl and a Green Woodpecker with House Martin, Swallow & Swift overhead.  The morning was rounded off with a couple of Willow Warblers and a couple of Juvenile Stonechats.
