Swillington Ings

 Saturday 28th September a.m.

A bright sunny start but chilly at just 5°C at Swillington where the Cetti's Warblers burst in to their song all around the site, I even saw one today.  Many birds were seen including Great White Egret, Little Egret and Grey Heron plus loads of Lapwings and three Snipe.  House Martins were overhead and a couple of new birds at this site for me were Green Woodpecker and Stonechat.  Other birds seen included Bearded Tit, Kingfisher, Gadwall, Pochard, Little Grebe, G.C. Grebe, Grey Wagtail, Shoveler and Cormorant.

Cullingworth

Tuesday 17th September a.m.

A warm sunny morning with a temperature of 11°C as I took a walk on the NW side of Cullingworth.  I caught up with the Little Owl surveying from it's usual vantage point, a  Jay made a brief appearance.  A  Sparrowhawk also arrived but was mobbed by a couple of crows or Raven I couldn't decide which.  In the lower fields there were c40 Lapwings  and c250 Gulls.
