Alot of mist swirling around this morning, mainly in the low lying areas but clear up at Redcar Tarn.  Good to see the male pintail still present joined by two Wigeon, along with Tufteds, Canadas, Greylags & Coots displaying.  Large numbers of Gulls with c100 Herring Gulls, c100 BH Gulls, 10 LBB Gulls, 5 Common Gulls and one Yellow-legged Herring Gull.  Others were Starling, Mallards, Rook & Jackdaw.

Rodley Nature Reserve part 2

 Sunday 28th January a.m.

It seemed quiet during my visit here but looking at the number of species I saw then compared to most sites in West Yorkshire this is a great spot.  A species that does well here is the Gadwall Duck, there were 20 of them, another bird that does well is the Little Grebe I saw six.  There were four Grey Herons, 10 Teal, Shoveler, Lapwing,Tufted, Mute Swans, BH, Common and Herring Gulls.

Rodley Nature Reserve part 1

 Sunday 28th January a.m.

A sunny morning in Rodley with a temperature of 5°C as I headed to the hide overlooking the lake where I saw my first Kingfisher of the year.  As I headed for the bird feeding area a Song Thrush was singing and then overhead I heard Geese as a couple of skiens of Pinkies flew over, c150 birds, which was a great sight.  Nearing the hide at the top of the Reserve a Pied Wagtail was on a large pile of manure.  In the hide a Reed Bunting, Bullfinch and Blue Tit were seen.
