Redcar Tarn

Saturday October 25th a.m.
A trip up to Redcar Tarn this morning with some early morning sunshine & a temperature of 8°C,
this did not last long though before dark clouds threatened giving a nice Rainbow then heavy drizzle.
Good numbers of Mallards & BH Gulls & a distant flock of Lapwings which later made a fly over.
There were three Goosanders which were all camera shy today but a Grey Heron on the island posed very well, along with Pied Wagtails around the Tarn.

More from Blacktoft Sands

From Sunday 19th October
one of the highlights on Sunday was as we moved between hides the sky filled with c500 birds
reeling around giving a spectacular show.We were not sure what the birds were we thought maybe Golden Plover, looking at one of our snaps we still think that what they were.Difficult to get onto a picture the scale of the show but we got one that hopefully confirms they were Golden Plover. We
did take plenty of snaps so here are a few more to show you.

Sunday 19th October
With poor weather forecast for the Pennines & North West we decided to head East for the day to a new location for us the YWT Reserve , North Cave Wetlands. This lies South of Beverley in East Yorkshire, we had plenty of sunshine & a start temperature of 15.5°C on our arrival. There were
three hides to view from with another closed with development near by.There were good numbers of birds here with Teal being the most numerous, & good to see a Curlew, on approach to one hide a Snipe flew across in front of us this looked great with the sun on it.After spending time in the hides it was time for lunch from the small cafe before calling in at Blacktoft Sands on the way home, that report to follow later.
