Local Reservoir

Sunday 9th June a.m.
 A bright morning with a temperature of 11°C and quite a strong wind blowing at the Local Reservoir that is private, but BOG members have access with a permit.Here there were c100 LBB Gulls plus some Herring and a couple of BH Gulls.Swifts were flying overhead and on the water were Canadas, Greylags and Tufteds. It was good to get a Redshank come near to the hide, others seen were Common Sandpiper, Mistle Thrush, Grey Wagtail, Pied Wagtail, Red Legged Partridge, Lapwing, Mipits and Curlew.

Friday 7th June a.m.
 An early start this morning travelling to Swillington Ings where it was sunny with a temperature of 8°C.I started off with a Little Egret flying over near the car park, entering the reserve the noise from the BH Gulls was very loud with in excess of 1,000 birds across the site.
 Astley Lake was my first stop after seeing a couple of Willow Warblers and Cetti's Warblers on the way. Many birds here including Common Tern, Gadwall, Mute Swan, Cormorant, Tufteds, Pochard and a single Whooper Swan.
 As I made my way around the reserve I saw several Sedge Warblers and Reed Warblers and overhead there were c100 Swift, a single Buzzard was also seen.Others seen were Black-necked Grebe, Linnet, Lapwing, Goldfinch, Chaffinch, Reed Bunting, GC Grebe and Shelduck.
 As I was heading back I saw a couple of small birds low down in the Reeds, they were light coloured so as I brought the bins up to get a proper look I was expecting Reed Warbler but no they were Bearded Tits a first for me here.

Lister Park

Sunday 2nd June a.m.
Another cloudy morning but warm with a temperature of 18°C as I made my way to the Lake at Lister Park.Here I counted 35 Greylags and there were c50 Canadas, 25 LBB Gulls plus 15 Tufteds.
A Mistle Thrush was singing is melancholy tune high in the top of a tree with a Chaffinch belting out a more abrupt song nearby.There was a pair of Coots with three chicks and others seen were Greenfinch, Song Thrush, Robin and Wren.

Lister Park 2/6/2019

Redcar Tarn

Saturday 1st June a.m.
 A dull cloudy morning with a temperature of 13°C up at Redcar Tarn where there was a good selection of birds as usual.Always good to listen to the Skylark singing and watch it soar in to the sky,
a Redshank did a circuit of the Tarn and a couple of Oystercatchers flew over.Also flying over the water were Sand Martin, House Martin, Swallow and Swift with Canadas moving around and a pair on the banking with 5 goslings.Not to be out done a Mallard had eight young chicks and there were also Coots with chicks.There were just a couple of BH Gulls but 25 LBB Gulls were present, others included Rook, Jackdaw, Lapwing and Tufteds.
 The highlight of the morning was spotting a Little Ringed Plover on the island and the bonus of getting some decent pictures.
