Cullingworth/Hewenden Reservoir

Saturday 12th October a.m.
I set off this morning with cloud overhead and a temperature of 9°C expecting it to brighten up but I was soon getting wet with heavy showers. I was two thirds round the reservoir before the sun started to appear and with it some birds the first being four Jays flying over.On the reservoir there were two Cormorants, Canadas, Tufteds, Coot and Moorhen.Walking along the track towards the farm two Grey Wagtails flew low overhead, Starlings were on the wires as was a mixed flock of Goldfinch and Linnets, further along as I headed home there were two Mistle Thrush.

Redcar Tarn

Saturday 28th September p.m.
This morning was a washout so I ventured up to Redcar Tarn this afternoon when the sun was out with a temperature of 15°C.The first bird of note was a Juvenile Lesser Black-backed Gull with a Green leg ring number N:D81 which had been seen earlier in the week, on the BOG site is reported as being ringed this summer in Bowland, Lancashire.
There was also a much bigger Juvenile close by which by its size I put down to being a Greater Black-backed Gull. There were also a good many other Juvenile Gulls and c50 BH Gulls, Lapwings numberd 25 along with a similar number Starlings. There was a flock of c50 Linnets and on the water there were five Goosanders along with the Tufteds and Canadas. I also saw seven Pied Wagtails, Rooks, Jackdaws and a Grey Heron.
