Monday 11th August a.m.
After a cloudy start the sun started to come through as I arrived at Leeshaw with a temperature of 16°C. There were c100 Canadas in the field as l headed up the track, later these came over on to the res. The water level here is very low, I don't think I've seen it this low so early before, still on the bright side there's plenty of shore line. There were good numbers of Gulls mainly LBB & BH but also Herring & Common were present. There were two Cormorants & Goldfinch were feeding on the Thistle seeds others were Lapwing, House Martin & Swallow, then I spotted three birds at the edge of the water with their heads down snoozing. My first thought was Black-tailed Godwit but it was an age before one lifted its head so I could see the long bill to confirm they were Godwits. This is a first for me locally so started to get some pictures, they were soon surrounded by Canadas and began to move and feed, an excellent morning.
