Redcar Tarn

Saturday 22nd February a.m.
A bright sunny morning with a very strong blustery wind and a temperature of 8°C up at Redcar Tarn where it was good to see two returning Curlew and three Oystercatchers. I finally saw the Iceland Gull which is a lifer for me and although difficult to stand up I managed a couple of record pictures.
Others here were Canadas, Greylags, Tufteds, Lapwings, BH, Common, Herring and LBB Gulls.

Lister Park

Sunday 16th February a.m.
A quieter morning at Lister Park after storm Dennis yesterday and overnight, still windy with cloudy skies and a temperature of 6°C. The Lake held 43 Tufteds with Coots, Moorhen, BH Gull and Herring Gull also present. There were c50 Canadas grazing with 25 Greylags and higher in the Park a Jay showed well. There was also a flock of c30 Siskin which were quiet vocal but they soon moved on, finally a singing Dunnock posed well for a picture.

A cloudy morning at Yeadon Tarn with a temperature of 5°C where I started off well seeing five Pochards, Shoveler and Tufteds. There were twelve Mute Swans, an Oystercatcher was on the island with a Goosander nearby with others including BH Gull, Canadas, Coal Tit & Goldfinch.
At nearby Knotford Nook there were twelve Goldeneye and a pair of GC Grebes doing their dance as well as Greylags, Redwing and Oystercatcher.

Redcar Tarn

Sunday 2nd February p.m.
Another visit up to Redcar Tarn where there was some brightness with a temperature of 8°C, the two Caspian Gulls were still on site, in the surrounding fields there were more gulls and c75 Lapwing. Others seen were Tufteds & Rook, I stayed for a while hoping the Iceland Gull might appear but it didn't, good to see a few other birders up there and have another chat with KM.
