A bright sunny morning with a temperature of 16°C and a breeze blowing which may have kept some birds down. A difficult morning spotting the birds as they tended to dive for cover in the dense undergrowth as I approached. Overhead were House Martins and a couple of Swifts which were easier to spot. I did see Blackcap, Whitethroat, Willow Warbler, Juvenile Stonechat, Bullfinch, Goldfinch and Garden Warbler.

Doe Park Reservoir
Wednesday 29th July a.m.
A sunny start to the morning with a temperature of 10°C, although as the morning wore on the cloud built up and it threatened to rain. I decided on a walk to Doe Park Reservoir where on arrival there was a pair of Grey Wagtails which was a good start. A Grey Heron was on the other side of the Reservoir and a Cormorant flew by, a count of ten Sand Martins were feeding low over the water and a Whitethroat was seen as I headed towards Denholme Clough. Others were Willow Warbler, Blackcap, Jay, Linnet, Canadas and BH Gull. A small bird was also seen on a low branch of a tree which I was unsure about, looking at my pictures I think its a juvenile Redstart.
Walking back home past Hewenden Reservoir there were six Swifts, two Oystercatchers plus Swallows, House Martin and a Chiffchaff belting out its song.
