Redcar Tarn

Tuesday 25th June a.m.

A hot sunny start with a temperature of 22°C at Redcar Tarn where there were c40 LBB Gulls on the water and just two BH Gulls.  A couple of Canadas with three goslings were at the waters edge and a pair of Oystercatchers were in a nearby field with a Pied Wagtail on an overhead cable.  Walking round the Tarn Damselflies & Dragonflies were seen and a Swift flew overhead, others seen were Coots, Mallards, Tufted, Rooks and Jackdaws.

Rodley Nature Reserve

Sunday 23rd June a.m.

Good sunny morning at Rodley with a temperature of 18°C, plenty of birds to see here and also Damselflies were on show.  A pair of Mute Swans had five Cygnets, good to see a Little Ringed Plover here with Lapwings, Oystercatchers and Little Egret.   A look in to the River Aire produced three Grey Wagtails with male & female Branded Demoiselle Damselflies flying around the grassland.  Some of the other birds included Gadwall, Teal, Cormorant, Grey Heron, Sand Martin, Gt Crested Grebe, Bullfinch and Chiffchaff.

Yeadon Tarn

 Sunday 23rd June a.m.

A cloudy start to the day but with some sunny intervals and a temperature of 16°C, there were 14 Mute Swans, 35 Canadas and a Cormorant.  The highlight of the visit though was a pair of Mute Swans with five Cygnets.

Harden Moor

 Thursday 20th June a.m.

A sunny morning with a temperature of 15°C, Skylarks were up singing as were Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler and Whitethroat.  The Sand Martins were still visiting their nesting site, Swift and Swallow were seen overhead as was a hunting Kestrel.  Others seen were Jay, Song Thrush, Mipits, Linnet and Goldfinch.
