Swinsty Res & Timble Ings

 Saturday 26th September a.m.

A beautiful sunny morning with a temperature of 12°C, I joined other BOG members for a group walk starting off at Swinsty Reservoir.  We walked alongside the res seeing Mallard, Cormorant & Grey Heron.  We headed up towards Timble Ings an area of woodland adding Red Kite, Buzzard, Goldfinch, Jay & Chaffinch along the way.  In an area of scubland we saw a couple of Stonechats & a Reed Bunting plus Swallows.  We headed up hill through the woodland where we saw more Goldfinch eating the seeds from the Conifer cones, also Siskin, Coal Tit, Blue Tit, LT Tit & Goldcrest were seen or heard.  The noise of a Raven cronking was heard and after a while looking high in the trees we manged to spot it.  As we went along we also saw Dragonflies and Butterflies such as Speckled Wood & Red Admiral.  Heading back we went through Timble village and shortly after a Great Spotted Woodpecker was seen rounding off an enjoyable morning.
