A bright sunny start to the day with a temperature of 9°C on our arrival at Yeadon Tarn this
morning. It was good to see five young Mallard chicks with parents looking after them, there were
fewer birds on the water Canadas,Coots,Moorhen,Mallards,Tufted Duck and eleven Mute Swans.
Good to see two Great Crested Grebe, others included House Sparrow,Starling,Reed Bunting &
Chaffinch. The star of the show for us though was a Common Tern perched on one of the new stakes
in the water. It was here for at least 20 minutes giving us chance of a few snaps before it took off circled
then flew off, hopefully it will return soon.We did notice a ring on its left leg but could not make anything
out on it.

Lister Park

Sunday May 5th a.m.
On our arrival at Lister Park in Bradford it was cloudy, with some light drizzle from time
to time and some spells of sunshine later in the morning, the start temperature was 10.5°C.
We first went to the lake where there was Mallards,Canadas,Coots,Moorhen & Tufted Duck.
We saw a Moorhen looking after a young chick, there was also a couple of older Mallard chicks
which were having to fend for themselves with no adults with them. There was a large number of
Feral Pigeons which are worth a snap if you can get some sun light on them.A pair of Mistle Thrushes
were collecting material for nest building,Wrens were singing along with Blackbird & Chaffinch.
We walked up to the wooded area seeing a GSW high in a tree & a  Nuthatch,a couple of LT Tits
were flitting about in the trees, one of those nearly had that snaps with them. A few Grey Squirrels were about & a Peacock Butterfly rounded a good morning off as we headed for home.

Leeshaw

Friday May 3rd p.m.
An afternoon visit to Leeshaw with cloudy skies & a temperature of 12°C where there
were a good number of Canadas, mainly feeding in the fields but there were also a few on
the water. Oystercatchers were also moving around with one pair mobbing a Carrion Crow,
a Redshank landed on a post where it stayed for a while which was handy for a few snaps.
A male Wheatear was again around the muck heap,I suspect by its behavior its the same one
hanging on whilst others have moved on. A few Curlew also moved nearby the reservoir and
a several Greylags rested near the edge of the water.
