Yeadon Tarn

Monday May 6th a.m.
A bright sunny start to the day with a temperature of 9°C on our arrival at Yeadon Tarn this
morning. It was good to see five young Mallard chicks with parents looking after them, there were
fewer birds on the water Canadas,Coots,Moorhen,Mallards,Tufted Duck and eleven Mute Swans.
Good to see two Great Crested Grebe, others included House Sparrow,Starling,Reed Bunting &
Chaffinch. The star of the show for us though was a Common Tern perched on one of the new stakes
in the water. It was here for at least 20 minutes giving us chance of a few snaps before it took off circled
then flew off, hopefully it will return soon.We did notice a ring on its left leg but could not make anything
out on it.
