Redcar Tarn

Saturday 19th November a.m.
I had a quick visit up to Redcar Tarn where there was a covering of snow and it was feeling cold at 2°C.There were good numbers of Lapwings and Gulls with the usual Canadas,Mallards,Tufted Duck,Moorhen & Coots. At the top end Goldfinch,Chaffinch and Dunnock were seen and there was a Muscovy on one of the benches, back at the car a Pied Wagtail made a brief appearance. A quick scan around then led me to a Kestrel on Tarn Lane which was on top of a pole and luckily stopped long enough for a couple of pictures.

Cullingworth & Hewenden Reservoir

Sunday 13th November a.m.
A bright morning with a temperature of 3°C as we headed towards Hewenden Reservoir through the village. When we got to the viaduct we could see BH Gulls on the Dam wall and on the water were Mallards & Tufteds with a Dipper in the overflow area.We saw a Kestrel in a distant tree and through the wood we got a GSW,Goldcrest and five Bullfinch. As we came back round the other side of the reservoir we saw Fieldfare and Redwings which were scattered by a Sparrowhawk. We also spotted a couple of Cormorants in some trees and three Teal on the water with a couple of Moorhen as well.At the farm we caught up with Pied & Grey Wagtails along with Robins.

Bolton Abbey

Friday 11th November p.m.
A fine afternoon with some good spells of sunshine and a temperature of 8°C.I started off at the Cavendish Pavilion and had a gentle stroll up to the strid alongside the river Wharfe before walking back seeing a few birds along the way. There were a good number of Mallards but they were out numbered by Mandarin Ducks with a count of 78 as I walked upstream. Also good to see a couple each of Dippers and Goosanders, a Grey Wagtail and Coal Tit.This area is very picturesque so I took quite a few pictures here are a couple of them.N.P.
