Leeshaw Reservoir

Saturday 4th July a.m.
After another night of thunder storms the morning started with fog delaying our birding until mid morning. We arrived at Leeshaw which was still misty but this was slowly clearing the temperature was 16°C.There were good numbers of Canadas,Greylags & Lapwings, Mipits were also flying around with beaks full of flies. The water level had dropped again from last week meaning the waders were further away & even harder to spot, although there was no trouble hearing the very vocal Oystercatchers. We saw three Dunlin which was a first for us at Leeshaw so we were very happy to see them, also with them were two LRPs, all of which were watchful of two Grey Herons at the waters edge.As we were watching these c50 Swifts circled overhead, there were also small numbers of House Martins & Swallows.
