Swillington Ings

Sunday 8th May a.m.

A cloudy morning with a temperature of 7°C but the Warblers were still singing although not easy to spot, in particular the Reed Warblers which were often obscured by the reeds, a Sedge Warbler sang from a better vantage point.  Whitethroat was seen and Chiffchaff and Willow Warbler were heard, good to see Sand Matins, Swallows and c20 Swifts which were high in the sky. A good selection of other birds were seen including Black-necked Grebe, Little Grebe, Gt Crested Grebe, Gadwall, Shoveler, Pochard, Reed Bunting and Common Tern.
