Harold Park & Park Dam

Sunday 16th June a.m.
 After some early morning sunshine it soon clouded over and produced a few showers during the morning, when I arrived at Harold Park the temperature was 11°C.A Great Crested Grebe was busy feeding its chick, a mallard had twelve chicks and there were several broods of Coot chicks at different ages. A pair of Mute Swans had five Cygnets, others here were Canadas, Moorhen, Tufteds and Swift.
 Down the road at Park Dam there was a pair of Great Crested Grebes feeding two chicks, a Little Grebe was seen, others were Coot,Swallow, House Martin and Tufteds.

Harold Park 16/6/2019

St Ives

Saturday 15th June a.m.
 A bright sunny start to the morning with a temperature of 13°C at the Coppice Pond on the St Ives Estate near Harden.It was good to see a pair of Mute Swans with five Cygnets, others on the water were Coots,Moorhen,Mallards and  a pair of Tufteds. A Cuckoo was calling fairly close by as I decided to take a walk through the wood to the Golf course at the top of the estate.On the way seeing Robins, Blackbirds, Song Thrush, Blue Tit, Nuthatch, Treecreeper and hearing Chiffchaff.
 At the top of the estate the land opened up and across the fields I saw Lapwings, Pied Wagtail, Swallow and Chaffinch.At the edge of the wood a GSW was showing well as it began to cloud over and feel cooler.I made my way back down to the Coppice Pond where there were now fifteen Canadas. I paid a visit to the hide which came up trumps after a long lean spell with a GSW on the feeders.

Local Reservoir

Sunday 9th June a.m.
 A bright morning with a temperature of 11°C and quite a strong wind blowing at the Local Reservoir that is private, but BOG members have access with a permit.Here there were c100 LBB Gulls plus some Herring and a couple of BH Gulls.Swifts were flying overhead and on the water were Canadas, Greylags and Tufteds. It was good to get a Redshank come near to the hide, others seen were Common Sandpiper, Mistle Thrush, Grey Wagtail, Pied Wagtail, Red Legged Partridge, Lapwing, Mipits and Curlew.

Swillington Ings

Friday 7th June a.m.
 An early start this morning travelling to Swillington Ings where it was sunny with a temperature of 8°C.I started off with a Little Egret flying over near the car park, entering the reserve the noise from the BH Gulls was very loud with in excess of 1,000 birds across the site.
 Astley Lake was my first stop after seeing a couple of Willow Warblers and Cetti's Warblers on the way. Many birds here including Common Tern, Gadwall, Mute Swan, Cormorant, Tufteds, Pochard and a single Whooper Swan.
 As I made my way around the reserve I saw several Sedge Warblers and Reed Warblers and overhead there were c100 Swift, a single Buzzard was also seen.Others seen were Black-necked Grebe, Linnet, Lapwing, Goldfinch, Chaffinch, Reed Bunting, GC Grebe and Shelduck.
 As I was heading back I saw a couple of small birds low down in the Reeds, they were light coloured so as I brought the bins up to get a proper look I was expecting Reed Warbler but no they were Bearded Tits a first for me here.
