A good start to the day with bright skies & sunshine whilst taking the dog for her early
morning walk there were five House Martins flying low in the centre of the village showing
off their distinctive white rump.

Our first port of call was Harden Moor here there were plenty of Sand Martins around the
quarry, whilst thinking if we could get a snap of then came the call cuckoo!,cuckoo! We quickly
headed off to locate where the calls were coming from & a short walk away we saw the Cuckoo
in a tree. We were some distance away & as we tried for a snap it moved, we relocated it but
again it flew off but it was great to see it & hear its call. There were plenty other birds around
including Bullfinch,Goldfinch,Meadow Pipit,Chaffinch,Robin & Swallow. There were also a good
number of Willow Warblers and we also got a good view of a Little Owl.
