Harold Park & Park Dam

Saturday 17th May a.m.
Another lovely day today with sunshine & a temperature of 16.5°C when we arrived at
Harold Park in the South Bradford area. The first bird we saw was a Mistle Thrush in the
sunshine,a Coot chick was growing fast now fending for itself. On the water were Canadas,
Coots,Mallards,Moorhen,Gt C. Grebe & Tufted Duck.
We moved down the road a short distance to Park Dam where it was great to see a pair of
Mute Swans with seven Cygnets. It was also good to see a pair of Gt C. Grebes with three
chicks, their black & white stripes making them very distinctive. The Swans are very protective
to the little ones & when a Canada got too close it was chased off.Others seen here were Coots,
Moorhen,Mallards,Tufted Duck,Swallows & Swift.
