Saturday 7th March a.m.
After our earlier visit to Leeshaw we headed for Cromwell Bottom Nature Reserve aka Elland Gravel Pitts, hoping for Siskin & Redpoll, no luck today, its been a poor Winter for these two species. We've had both in our garden before but not this Winter.
Anyway all was not lost we started off walking alongside the River Calder down to the weir where we saw four
Teal on the opposite bank. Then we followed the path back through the wood to the feeding area where we stayed watching the birds & getting a few snaps. We saw ten
Bullfinch along with
Coal,Blue & Gt Tits,Dunnock,Chaffinch & Robin. We then headed back & had a walk along the canal where we saw
Grey Heron fly over
Canadas,Mallards & a Juvenile
Mute Swan(Yellow 106).
We saw a
Cormorant fly over the ski lake & there were
BH Gulls & four
Tufted Ducks in the distance. We then headed off back to the car park & home after another busy mornings birding.
