Cullingworth & Hewenden Reservoir

Friday 6th March a.m.
With the prospect of a dry morning we decided to go for a local walk on to Hewenden Reservoir,
although cloudy to start with a temperature of 6°C it brightened with some sunshine.A good number of common species were seen on our route with some good birds on the reservoir these being BH & Common Gulls,Cormorant,Goosander,Gt Crested Grebe,Canada,Moorhen & Mallard. It was also good to see the return of a pair of Oystercatchers other notable were Grey Heron,Pied Wagtail & Meadow Pipit.
We saw fifteen Cormorants which is a good local number, spring was certainly in the air with Snowdrops flowering in the garden & some good returning birds seen on our walk.
Also on our walk we heard a Peacock calling, & later it made an appearance, no doubt belonging to one of the local residents, good to see though.
