Saturday 4th June a.m.
A dull start to the day with a temperature of 15°C as we arrived at Dowley Gap where our walk started well with a pair of Tufted Duck on the canal. There were also Canadas and Greylags on the canal and in the surrounding fields. They had several broods of goslings, some of the Greylags young had already lost all their down feathers and were more juveniles then goslings. We had a walk through Buck Wood alongside the river then over the bridge and back through Hirst Wood seeing many birds along the route. These included Grey Heron,Grey Wagtail,Pied Wagtail,Song Thrush,Nuthatch, Goosander,Oystercatcher,Kingfisher,Swallow,Swift and other common species.
