Saturday 4th August a.m.
A cloudy morning with a temperature of 14°C and on the whole a quiet birding couple of visits but enough about to keep the interest going.Firstly at Leeshaw the
Little Owl was in its usual position along with c50
Lapwings in a nearby field and Four
Oystercatchers were flying around with a
Grey Heron keeping watch.
At Leeming the water level is particularly low but I did see a
Grey Wagtail at the start of the stream below the reservoir.A
Kestrel was perched in a tree waiting to pounce and at the side of the path amongst the Brambles was a Juvenile
Robin and several
Willow Warblers.A couple of the willow Warblers were singing then there was the din of a
Grey Heron as it flew in to the waters edge near a couple of
BH Gull juveniles.
Over head it was good to see a
Swift hanging on among several
House Martins which were making trips to the edge of the water, maybe doing repairs to their nests with the mud.
Nigel.
