Sunday 14th April a.m.
Another frosty night and a cold morning at -1°C when I took the dog out for her walk, it was cloudy and good to see my first
Swallow of the year on an overhead wire.Lets hope these cold nights are finished with or it could spell trouble for the new arrivals.
Later I set out for Yeadon Tarn where there was some sunshine with a temperature of 2°C, however it soon clouded over again. Here there were four
Swallows and the same number of
Sand Martins feeding low over the water.There were
Chiffchaffs and
Willow Warblers singing, both were seen but were camera shy.Good to see a couple of
Skylarks near the airport and a distant
Reed Bunting, with a fly over of two
Curlews and later an
Oystercatcher. A
Mistle Thrush came close to me for a pic and there were several
Blue Tits and a
LT Tit as well as
Gold and
Greenfinch. There were also
BH ,
Common and a
Herring Gull and a good count of 23
Mute Swans.
The highlight of the morning for me was watching a pair of
Great Crested Grebes doing their weed dance a delight to see.
