Harold Park and Park Dam

Saturday 7th July a.m.
Another bright sunny start with a temperature of 18°C as I headed for the Lake at Harold Park where it was good to see a pair of Mute Swans (yellow 468) with a Cygnet.A pair of GC Grebes also had at least two chicks and Coots had young chicks and some older juveniles.Others included Tufted Duck, Canadas and Chaffinch.
Then I moved down the road to Park Dam where it was quiet on the water with just Tufteds,  Mallards, Coots and GC Grebe.Overhead were Swifts and House Martins and I got a bonus of a Kestrel close to me on the ground until it flew when a dog approached.

Harden Moor

Sunday 1st July a.m.
Another sunny start with a temperature of 13°C on Harden Moor where the first birds were Swallows and a distant Little Owl on top of a wall. The colony of Sand Martins are doing well and it was good to see a single Swift in the vicinity.A juvenile Green Woodpecker was calling from a tree where I managed to spot it with the adult spotted in the distance and later I saw them together.A Kestrel hovered quite close overhead, a few Willow Warblers were seen as were several Whitethroats some singing others looking after juveniles.

Redcar Tarn

Saturday 30th June a.m.
The heatwave continues and I arrived at Redcar Tarn in the sunshine with a start temperature of 14°C.
There were 46 LBB Gulls which I think is a record for me here there were also c50 BH Gulls with a couple of juveniles in the mix.A Coot had two young chicks and a Mallard had four chicks in tow there were only two Tufteds seen, above the water were two Swifts and two House Martins. In the surrounding fields a Curlew was seen and their were Rooks and Jackdaws, a Buzzard flew over mobbed by two Rooks.A Chaffinch was singing and was close enough for a picture, not a bad morning as it goes.
