Lively Leeshaw

Saturday 1st March a.m.
A frosty start but the early morning cloud was lifting with a temperature of 0.5°C
when we arrived at Leeshaw Reservoir near Oxenhope.Things started well as the first
birds we saw were a couple of returning Oystercatchers on the Dam wall, conditions were
good with little wind the water was calm.On the water we saw Canadas,Greylags,Mallards,
BH Gull & Cormorant. In the surrounding fields were good numbers of Lapwings a few were
dislaying also returned were Curlew both seen & heard, there were more Oystercatchers on a
wall on the other side of the reservoir, with another pair in a nearby field with some Canadas.
A really good feel here with spring in the air we also spotted our first Little Owl of the year,
not in its usual spot, and to cap things off as we approached the car to go there was a Grey
Wagtail on the wall waiting for us.
We decided to call in at Leeming on the way home, the highlights here were two Kestrels,
Pied Wagtail & Coal Tit.
