Sunday 6th September
A bright sunny day which we made the most of by having a trip out to Blacktoft Sands near Goole.
There was good numbers of ducks with
Teal &
Wigeon into the hundreds with others including
Gadwall,Shoveler,Mallard,Little Grebe &
Pintail. Also a selection of waders with
Snipe being the most numerous, others were
Lapwing,Black-tailed Godwit,Redshank & a
Green Sandpiper.We saw three distant
Water Rails at the edge of the reed bed with one showing really well for a short time.A
Grey Heron was fishing & we counted thirteen
Little Egrets which all made for a good day out rounded off by watching the
Tree Sparrows on the feeders.
