Monday 16th March p.m.
A sunny afternoon at Leeshaw with a temperature of 10°C where there were at least eight
Redshanks and sixteen
Oystercatchers. It was great to watch the Redshanks zooming around with their familiar whistling sound. The Oystercatchers were on the wall at the other side of the res when I arrived but they did a circuit and went down under the banking where they stayed out of sight.a cormorant also did a circuit and there were two
Pinkies with the
Greylags in the surrounding fields as were
Lapwings.
It was good to see BV who I asked if he'd seen the Golden Plover flock in their usual nearby field, he like me had not seen them this year. He said they had been in that same field for twenty years or so usually around a hundred by now. The field was ploughed last year and this could be a reason for them not returning.
