Redcar Tarn

Wednesday 3rd August p.m.
Went up to Redcar Tarn this evening, it was warm and humid again with a temperature of
21°C and storm clouds gathering, lucky for us the storms stayed away in the distance during
our visit. On the Tarn there were the Mallards,Coots ,Moorhen,Tufted Duck, BH Gull,
LBB Gull and Canadas. We also saw Pied Wagtail,Lapwings and Swallows, there were two
new broods of Tufted Ducks with five and six chicks. The first single chick was still there but
the second brood of four chicks was down to two.Good to see the new broods hopefully
the majority of them will be O.K.The Tarn water is getting covered in green weed, I hope
this doesn't cause problems for the birds.
