Yeadon Tarn

Sunday 8th February a.m.
A cold frosty start to the day with a temperature of -1.5°C on our arrival but sunshine & clear skies made for a promising morning. We had a good start as we were walking down to the Tarn the sun was catching the trees making the Blue Tits,Chaffinch,Goldfinch & others that were flitting about easier to see.We also had a first for this site when we saw a Treecreeper which was a bit too quick for a snap but good for us to see. Also a Wren was keen for a snap but a few Redwing were much more flighty as we approached the water which was around 50% frozen. There were good numbers of Gulls with another first for us here as we spotted a Herring Gull, other notables Mute Swan,Gt Crested Grebe,Pochard & Tufted Duck. After our circuit we headed back to the car & off to Rodley NR, with our report to follow....
