Redcar Tarn LRP

Saturday 9th May a.m.
Another morning full of rain so it was a late morning dash up to Keighley's Redcar Tarn to see what was about. The sky was still full of dark clouds & with a strong wind blowing if felt colder than the 8°C as we first looked across at the small pond. Here there were Canadas,Coot,Moorhen & Lapwing,
but the highlight of the trip was another small wader, not a Dunlin as on our last visit but a Little Ringed Plover. Not an easy bird to pick out at the edge of the water some distance away but a delight to find it, another first for us here.
A Skylark was also singing & it was good to pick out two House Martins among the Swallows feeding low over the Tarn, also a Swift was seen.Other birds included LBB Gull,Tufted Duck & our
first Coot chick of the year,by now heavy drizzle had returned so it was off home for us.
