Leeming Reservoir

Saturday 16th May a.m.
Cloudy with sunny intervals sums up this morning with a temperature of 8°C as we walked round Leeming Reservoir. There were two Redshanks under the dam wall & a pair of Common Sandpipers flew across the water one landing in front of us briefly before joining the Redshanks under the dam wall.Several Swallows were feeding over the water,a pair of Greylags flew in landing on the water, a Coot was also seen & a pair of Mallards with 5 chicks. We also got a first for us here a Great Crested Grebe which soon disappeared under the over hanging trees at the edge of water.Several Willow Warblers were in full voice but shy of the camera, we walked back taking the path above the reservoir seeing a Bullfinch next to a Robin singing. As we came back to the dam wall a Common Sandpiper posed obligingly for a couple of snaps.
