Monday 20th January p.m.
A bright afternoon with some good spells of sunshine and a temperature of 7°C so I decided to go for a walk on to Hewenden Reservoir. When I got there I followed the track through the farm and on to the top end of the Reservoir seeing six
Cormorants on their usual perches. From my usual viewing point I could see three
Goosander, two
Goldeneye, two
Little Grebe, two
Tufteds along with
Mallards and a couple of
Canadas and not leaving out
Coot and
Moorhen. The Goldeneye were diving regularly so it looks like they have a good food supply here and good to watch them even though they were some distance away. A
Grey Heron was skulking on the distant side of the Reservoir eventually showing itself. Walking back a
Kestrel flew over,
Jackdaws were flying round near the viaduct and a mixed flock of
Fieldfare and
Redwings flew in to a distant tree, one came nearer for me to take a picture.
