Saturday 10th September a.m.
We met up with other BOG members for a walk round the edge of the moor with a cloudy start and a temperature of 12°C.We saw a couple of
Wheatears on the Golf course and a good count of nine
Skylarks, Mipits were seen throughout the walk.In one sunny spot we saw
Greenfinch and
Blackbird after the berries on the trees with
Chiffchaff and
Willow Warblers also in the area.Soon after it was good to see a
Stoat on a wall alas too slow with the camera, as we moved on it was good to see five
Grey Partridge in a distant field, a bird we don't see much of.There were good numbers of
Swallows gathering on the overhead wires, a few
House Martins could be seen with them.We then got a distant view of a
Red Kite soaring above then going down into a field and taking something to a wall giving us chance of a view distant snaps, first time we've seen one like this.We saw more Chiffchaffs and Willow Warblers in another sunny spot and
Goldfinch were on the thistle seeds as we headed back up the hill to the cars to complete a good mornings birding.
